Clapsaddle-Garber Associates

Clapsaddle-Garber Associates is a consulting firm providing services in civil engineering, land surveying, cartography, right of way acquisition, and laboratory and field testing. CGA, headquartered in Marshalltown, Iowa, was founded in 1959. Since that date, we have consistently grown and developed a record of engineering excellence and dependability.  The firm provides a broad range of services to governmental, industrial, and private clients in various disciplines of engineering, planning, and land surveying.

Civil engineering includes planning, design, and development of drainage systems, residential and industrial subdivisions, airports, and project financing.  Transportation engineering includes planning, design, and construction of airports, highways, streets, recreational trails, and parking systems.  Land surveying includes collection of topography and site features, the establishment of right of way easements, boundaries and plat preparations, and staking for construction projects.  Cartography services include city maps, plats and site layout plans.  Right of Way services include land acquisition design and negotiations, relocation assistance, and title and closing.  Landscape architecture services include site planning and green design projects.  Construction observation includes checking compliance of the construction plans and specifications.  Laboratory and field testing services include soil density testing and testing of portland cement concrete beams and cylinders, and concrete air and slump tests.

CGA maintains fully equipped field crews and office staff for the gathering of technical information and for producing completed plans and specifications.  Construction observation by qualified technicians and laboratory testing is also provided.  A continuing education program is maintained to keep all personnel informed and up to date on the latest in engineering techniques.

 

Mark Crawford is a new Project Manager in CGA's Ames office. Mark has fourteen years experienceSSat engineering firms and communities in central Iowa working on a variety of municipal projects. He is a graduate of Iowa State University, is a Professional Engineer licensed in Iowa and Missouri, and is planning to sit for the Principles and Practice of Land Surveying exam this fall. He will be working on transportation, site, recreational, and utility development throughout Iowa.
Andrew Inhelder is an Engineering Intern/Design Engineer in CGA's Marshalltown office. Andrew graduated from ISU this past December with a degree in Civil Engineering. He has been working with the IDOT since January. He will be working on a variety of site design and transportation projects at CGA.
James Matzinger is the new lab manager in CGA's Marshalltown materials testing facility. James is an ISU graduate with a degree in Construction Engineering. He has over four years experience in materials testing and project inspection roles, and will head the testing duties at CGA.
Matt Schuelke is a new Land Surveyor Intern in CGA's Marshalltown office. Matt is a recent graduate of Ferris State University in Michigan, and will perform general surveying duties such as boundary and topographic surveys, plat creation, and construction staking throughout Iowa.
