Family Video Development

Anyone in business knows it's important to keep your current clients.  Working to please current clients is much more rewarding than working to find new ones.  And Clapsaddle-Garber Associates is pleased to have completed the site design and survey of numerous Family Video sites all over the State of Iowa.  The extensive list includes: Altoona, Ames, Boone, Burlington, four locations in Des Moines, East Des Moines, Fairfield, Fort Dodge, Fort Madison, Grinnell, Indianola, Johnston, Knoxville, Marshalltown, Mason City, Mt. Pleasant, Newton, Urbandale, Washington, Waverly and Windsor Heights.  Our eight year partnership with Family Video has been satisfying for both client and engineer.

Family Video stores have a characteristic style, but each location must conform to the individual city's zoning specifications.  The City of Johnston was of no exception.  Located on the main arterial roadway through Johnston, Merle Hay Road, this Family Video site's appearance and functionality were of top priority.  CGA took the predetermined store footprint and was able to make the parcel function at its utmost.

Completed in the fall of 2007, this site was surveyed and platted before design began.  With this site located near a conservation district in Johnston, the landscaping requirements were imperative, and the design needed to positively impact the subject and surrounding properties.  Also located within this conservation district was a trail that ran behind the proposed site and was a major factor in the beautification requirements of the parcel.  Along with the landscaping, this site design project fit an 8,400 square foot building, a 57 stall parking lot, and accompanying storm sewer management on the property.
