Hardin County Trail

In the fall of 2002, construction began on a 1.2 mile extension of the Hardin County Recreational Trail that was designed by CGA Consultants. Gehrke, Inc. out of Eldora, Iowa was awarded the construction contract. Right-of-way and construction observation services were also provided by CGA.

The new trail begins in Pine Lake State Park where a previously constructed trail terminates. From there, the trail weaves it's way north along the Iowa River, and into the city limits of Steamboat Rock.

With the success of the new trail connecting Eldora and Steamboat Rock, talk has already begun concerning future plans for the trail extension north to the communities of Alden and Iowa Falls.
