Vice President Adam Daters, P.E., observes CGA’s core values during onboarding.
Multiple values can present themselves in a single scenario. CGA has had the pleasure of bringing on multiple new employees right out of school over the last few months. It’s essential that we bring these employees on board quickly and efficiently and fulfill our promises to train them in their field of choice. Various core values present themselves during this process, such as Communication, Teamwork, and Continual Improvement. Since one person alone can’t train an individual, or rather, train them efficiently, it takes a team of employees skilled in various fields to teach the new hires what they need to know. Essential to this teamwork is communication, effective communication between their mentor, supervisor, and individuals interacting with them on a day-to-day basis. Buried under all of this is another core value, as we collectively try to teach the new generation of employees, we’re also learning from them, continually improving our process or system. Whether it’s the onboarding process, CADD training process, or various other technical and professional skills, we, as a company, need to constantly improve the way we train new employees. I don’t think it’s a surprise that many core values tend to overlap since establishing core values was our best way of describing who we are and what we value, both as people individually and as a company on the whole.
