It is very easy to observe. There is a stark difference between a project where effective communication is upheld versus where it is lacking.
Excellent communication ultimately leads to a product everyone is proud of. Communication can be thought of as a chain. There are different links in our chain which could be CGA, contractor, client, and city employees. It is so easy for one of the links to break down. As the engineer, it is imperative to be aware of the communication chain. For example, a contractor may not be talking to the other “links” in our communication chain. As the project manager, I have the responsibility to fix or strengthen a link in the communication chain to ensure the team has a good demeanor and produces an excellent product.
In general, I have seen effective communication in action when I see a successful project and how the team develops.
