Like many public works employees in small communities in Iowa, the City of Parkersburg staff had a pretty good idea of how their water, sewer, and sanitary systems were laid out. But this information was scattered among engineering plans, old maps, sketches, and even in the minds of long-time employees.

CGA has provided engineering and surveying services for Parkersburg over a long time. However, the information and location that was gathered were not easily accessible by the city staff. CGA is providing GIS services to Parkersburg to help them develop an asset management system for their utility systems. Engineering and survey data have been converted to GIS map layers, available online with a desktop or mobile device. Information and location are a click away with maintenance information updated by Parkersburg staff.
