CGA provided survey, design, plan preparation, permitting, bid assistance, and help in meeting State Rec Trail grant fund requirements for paving a trail in an old railroad right-of-way northwest of Marshalltown. In order to minimize environmental impacts of the project, CGA designed the elevation of the trail to lower the embankment grade of the railroad in spots to obtain enough width on the railroad grade to avoid impacting ditches. The project was bid in June 2018 and awarded to Concrete Professionals.
In addition to Phase 3 of the project, the team of CGA also been selected as a part of the team to assist both Marshall County and Hardin County with 18 bridges along the Iowa River Trail. The Iowa River Trail, when completed, will extend 34 miles from Marshalltown to Steamboat Rock. CGA looks forward to assisting the project meet their goal through a phased approach to constructing trail systems.
