The 2010 flooding along South Duff resulted in the redevelopment of 716 S. Duff Avenue. The site offered an opportunity for the CGA design team to creatively navigate the city’s requirement for stormwater management at 10,000 square feet of disturbed impervious area. The Jimmy John’s site is the first along S. Duff Ave. to incorporate floodproofing of the building and minimum site disturbance. The pavement was removed and replaced as needed to provide an asphalt edge restraint, required landscaping, and new utility installation. The remaining pavement on-site was sealed and overlaid in various thicknesses.
